The Shaanxi Fintech Innovation Research Base (hereinafter referred to as the SFI Research Base) was established in 2021. Relying on the School of Economics and Finance of Xi'an Jiaotong University, the SFI Research Base focuses on how information technologies such as AI, big data, cloud computing, blockchain and the IoT can promote the innovation and development of the traditional financial industry. Rooted in western China, the SFI Research Base serves the whole of China and looks around the world. Insisting on technological innovation to drive financial development, the SFI Research Base can enhance the ability of fintech to serve the real economy and give back to the society, accelerate the deployment of Fintech Strategies, prevent new financial risks, and strengthen policy supervision. It is committed to becoming an influential think tank in fintech innovation research.

The head of the SFI Research Base is Professor Xu Fengmin from the School of Economics and Finance. There are 27 scholars and professionals, including 12 professors, 10 associate professors and 5 lecturers. And it also has 7 part-time researchers, all of whom are professors. The members of the SFI Research Base involve financial engineering, mathematics, computer, information communication and other fields. Interdisciplinary talents account for more than 56% and the ratio of overseas study background is 80%. The fund projects led by the members of the SFI Research Base involve multiple disciplines such as social science and natural science, reflecting the characteristics of the integration of traditional finance and information technology. The SFI Research Base conducts research on issues such as internet finance, quantitative trading, blockchain finance, financial modeling, and financial risk supervision, consolidating the theoretical foundation of financial technology.

The research feature of the SFI Research Base is to use information technology to solve the problems faced by traditional financial and digital finance, realize the cross-discipline integration, and use technological innovation to solve financial problems.
