1、For PhD students

Dr. Guiyuan Ma is an assistant professor in School of Economics and Finance, XJTU. He received his Master degree from Fudan University and Ph.D from University of Wollongong in Australia. Before joining XJTU, Dr. Ma worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Chinese University of Hong Kong. His research interests are dynamic portfolio choice with frictions, principal-agent problems and corporate finance. So far, Dr. Ma has published 13 papers in the SSCI/SCI journals such as Finance and Stochastics, Economic Modelling, Quantitative Finance, Computational Economics and European Journal of Operational Research. His research work is currently supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No. 72101199) and the Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities (SK2021019).

In this talk, I will provide a brief introduction to literature review around three main questions:
1) what is literature review?
2) why is it important for your Ph.D dissertations?
3) How to conduct literature review?
Also, I will illustrate two concrete examples about dynamic trading and corporate finance. Finally, some useful tools are shared to help you manage the relevant literature.

Dr. Shaohua Yang serves as an associate professor, doctoral supervisor and deputy director of the Teaching Superintendence Center in the School of Economics and Finance, Xian Jiaotong University. Sponsored by the Ministry of Education China Scholarship Council (CSC) in 2006 and 2014, Dr. Yang had visited and studied in the Department of Economics of Florida State University (FSU) and the Business School of Texas State University (TSU) respectively. She once worked for the Bilingual Teaching Test Base of the School of Education in TSU. She has been supported by one National Social Science Foundation Project (2013), and worked as group leader in one National Natural Science Foundation Project (2008) and one national key social science project (2009). She has published over ten academic papers on prestigious academic journals and also conducted thematic trainings on practical management, organizational culture, business negotiation, business English etc. for government departments and large state-owned enterprises.

杨少华，西安交通大学经济与金融学院副教授，博士生导师，学院教学督导中心副主任。2006和2014年获教育部国家留学基金委资助，分别赴美国佛罗里达州立大学（FSU）经济学系和德州州立大学（TSU）商学院访问进修。曾担任德州州立大学教育学院双语教学试验基地教师。主持国家社科基金课题项目1项（2013年）；作为子课题组负责人参与国家自然科学基金项目（2008年）和国家社科重点项目（2009年）。主持省部级课题多项。发表学术论文十余篇。为政府部门和大型国企作管理实践、企业组织文化、商务谈判、商务英语等专题培训多次。
